Yes.....I'm a professional hypnotherapist. I attended a course (well
a few courses actually!).
The inductions for stage hypnosis are generally different from those
used in clinical hypnotherapy. For a quick or shock induction, if you
have the confidence and belief in what you are doing then you should
be able to learn and achieve it from a book.
For clinical hypnotherapy we generally use a slower progressive
induction ( perhaps similar to one you would find on a self hypnosis
tape).
