Other points about "the shopping mall" - the mall provided a great environment
for over-loading the conscious minds of the shoppers ( apparently the human
conscious mind can only handle 7 chunks of information , plus or minus 2 ,
depending on the complexity, at one time ). So DBs had a much easier time get
his commands straight past the conscious awareness of many shoppers who were
otherwise overloaded with the sensory bombardment created by the mall itself.
Another shrewd DB move was that with the sheer number of people in the mall ,
he was bound to get a good percentage raise their arms ( a twist on how some
stage hypnotists find the best potential candidates for their shows) - but I'm
sure there was quite a number of shoppers who didn't raise their hands for
various reasons...but that wasn't what we were looking at & what got noticed
was the intended effect.
