I thought that was one of the more straightforward trix. He clearly
makes the sign of seven in the air with his right hand and clenches
both his fists to his heart.
Its quite instructive to watch one version with the sound turned down
and with subtitles on. This has the effect of 'blanching' the subtle
tonalities while allowing you freedom to concentrate on the non-
verbal gestures supplemented by linear word content ~ Mmmmmm its so
freakin obvious when you see it in print.
The 'tractor' bit was very impressive ~ have watched the repeat on E4
twice. Doesn't he carefully survey the crowd before picking on the
suggestible guy and says something like its that 'chap there'
(tractor?) I have noticed his brilliant ability for someone who
normally enunciates his words so clearly ~ to slip in a
quick 'slurring' of words to make up ambiguous sounding links.... and
rover and rover and rover again *lol*
The intro with the face photos says it all. I'm sure I've seen it
before and still got taken in this time round. The unconscious mind
is engaged on an automatic 'heuristic' search to 'make meaning' of
whatever is offered i.e. ambiguous sounding phrases, without of
course being aware that is what is going on below the surface.
Derren's mastery is in skillfully seeding these ambiguities.
