Hellow everyone.
I have been watching the Mind Control programs on C4 for some time
and have become very interested in Derren Browns techniques. Being an
amateur magician (mostly card tricks, and not very good ones)
Derren's type of magic is far more appealing then the stuff I
currently do.
Seeing as I'm new I thought I might try and give a little of my own
observations from watching the shows.
In Mind Control 2 when Derren is doing the rock, paper, scissors
trick, I notice that Derren seemed to be gesturing the "sign (rock,
paper, scissor" that he wanted the participants to do before they did
them. This is evident on the last one when as he turns his back you
can clearly see a scissors gesture that lasts for about a second and
is the gesture that the participant uses.
Also in Mind Control 2 when Derren is doing the pain control trick
with the candle I noticed that Derrens hand on the bottom view seemed
to be very reflective as if there was some kind of liquid on it,
which was not on any of the other participants hands. Could Derren
have used some sort of heat resistant liquid to give him a little
advantage?
Of course know are definite but they are just theories. Feel free
tear them down if you wish but remember I'm new!
