Subject: Something interesting in MC2
Having watched this episode back like a thousand times now, I have
noticed a couple of things about one of my favourite 'tricks', the
candle one....
I like this one especially because he obviously doesn't use any
tricks, any gimmicks, nothing!!
But if you watch him closely.... you'll notice a couple of
interesting things (if you havent already ofcourse).
1) when he's explaining what he wants the participants to do, he says
something like
"It hurts doesn't it??"
"Keep your hand there as long as you can, until you have to pull your
hand away <speeds up his tone of voice, and emphesis twice!>, (x2)." -
As he gestures with his hand.
Interestingly he emphisises on 'pulling the hand away'. I've got a
sneaky suspecion that it was a little subliminal messsage, that
sortof 'forced' them to think of when it was 'hurting'. Very clever.
They're put in that state of mind before hand, so cognitively,
they're looking for the pain.
I think obviously, one of the reasons why he did this is that he'd
win without so much difficulty....And so that they DO pull it away...
However, no 2....
2) If you watch the last women, she looks as if she could have stayed
there much longer. She was by far the person there the longest, but
it seemed to me that she could've perhaps stayed there even longer.
Her hand wasn't trembling or anything. She was perfectly calm, and by
that time, Derren started breahing very heavily, and was shaking...So
perhaps out of sympathy she may have stopped?? What do you guys
think??
One other interesting point, do any of you think that Derren could
have used 'self-hypnosis' in this stunt??
