I don't know if I'd call Derren's techniques
'tricks' as such. In every article I've read on him, he
goes to great pains to stress that his mind reading
effects are all achieved through psychological
techniques.
Indeed, if you have checked out any of his
recommended books on the mindcontrol website, you will see
that some of them regard mindreading as an extension
of body language...being able to tell if someone is
lying or truthful or is attracted to you for example,
rather than mindreading as in guessing a name or PIN
number (which is done by reading minute muscle movements
on the back of the hand). Perhaps we need to expand
our own definiton of what constitutes
mindreading?
Oh BTW, Thanks to Lauren for posting the NOTW
article on Derren. I have one from the London Evening
Standard, but it is basically just a rehash of the info on
Derrenbrown.co.uk. Nice picture though of chez Derren which I'll get
round to posting soon though....
