Warlock [Heseltine], Peter [Philip (Arnold)] (b London, 30 October, 1894 - d London, 17 December, 1930)
Warlock was a self-taught composer, although he was in contact with Delius from 1910, and was a friend of Moeran, and Lambert. Under his real name he wrote on music, and edited Elizabethan English works. As Warlock, he wrote a large number of songs in a wide variety of styles, but all illustrating an exceptional sensitivity to the texts, and a high technical skill. He also wrote choral music, and a few instrumental works.
