Naylor, Edward Woodall (b Scarborough, 1867 - d Cambridge, 7 May, 1934)
Naylor was the son of John Naylor who had been organist of York Minster. He studied at Emmanuel College, Cambridge where he gained a choral scholarship, and at the Royal College of Music from 1888 to 1892. After spending eight years as organist of two London churches he returned to Cambridge where he became both the assistant master at the Leys School and organist of Emmanuel College. It was during his time in Cambridge that Naylor wrote the majority of his choral works.
