Gasper, Luke (b 1981)
Gasper began his career in church music as a chorister at Worcester Cathedral. While studying for A-levels he won a place in the National Youth Choir, where he is now a section leader. He joined the Choral Foundation at Lichfield Cathedral in 2000 to serve for a year as a Bass Choral Scholar. During his year in Lichfield he sang the part of the voice of God in Captain Noah and his Floating Zoo, a performance which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in February 2002.

He left Lichfield in 2001 to read music at Hatfield College in the University of Durham. Since beginning his studies at Durham he has played the part of Jesus in Godspell and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, both to critical acclaim.

O Lord thy word endureth for ever is a setting of verses 89 and 90 of psalm 119. Dedicated to Robert Sharpe and the Gentlemen of Lichfield Cathedral Choir, it takes the form of a six-part motet.
