East, Michael (b c1580 - d Lichfield, 1648)
East took the Mus.B. degree at Cambridge in 1606, and then probably worked in London. He was a lay clerk at Ely Cathedral from 1609 until 1614, and then had become Master of the Choristers at Lichfield Cathedral by 1618. Between 1604 and 1638 he made seven publications which include Italianate madrigals, consort songs, anthems, and fancies for viols.
