Presentation and Dissertation Skills

Planning and organisation of material:
Presentation organised around reasons for choosing topic. Generally well planned material, although introduction seemed to come half way through, I wasn't sure what the presentation was about at the outset.

Use of sources:
Included [...] of original original sources which will be analysed and drawn on. Also personal interest means he wide knowledge of subject area. No secondary sources specifically.

Analysis:
Good analytical breakdown of process of refining title, and of background to project.

Presentation:
Very confident, good eye contact, good use of PowerPoint. Great opening - passages for us to read and comment on - really engaged audience at the outset.

Overall comments:
A very good presentation, engaging and interesting.
2 Dissertation proposal. 70%
Planning and organisation of material:
Generally well organised material, under appropriate headings.

Use of sources:
A range of sources identified, both primary and secondary. Possibly further reading needs to address how you will locate your dissertation in the context of nineteenth century England, and here you may need to consult more general works.

Analysis:
Clear research questions have been identified, together with possible conclusions. Methodology seems suitable.

Presentation:
Well written, and clearly presented

Overall comments:
A very good research proposal, which should form the basis of an interesting dissertation.
